Born from one tutor's struggle

TuitoMate didn't start as a startup idea. It started at home.

My wife has a Master's in History from NTU. When she was pregnant with our first child, she was offered a chance to lecture part-time at the university, work she had dreamed of. She chose to step back and focus on our family instead. I'm grateful I could support us on my income, but she was honest with me: she missed having an identity beyond “mum” and “wife.” She missed teaching, and putting her academic achievements to work.

So she began tutoring, carefully and with real commitment. She was afraid to take more than two students. Our son was still very young, and she believed every family who paid her deserved her best, not a stretched, distracted version of her. Then she told me what was really holding her back: the workload was crushing her. Lesson planning, keeping up with the curriculum, writing updates for parents. She couldn't see how to grow without sacrificing time with our family or the quality she promised in every lesson.

I asked her: What if I built something that took scheduling, payments, lesson plans, and parent reports off your plate, so you could focus on teaching, stay committed to every student, and still breathe?

That was TuitoMate.

Over three months I rebuilt it around how she actually works. One day she told me she couldn't imagine tutoring without it. Parents and students responded more warmly. She said she felt like a pro. Then she said something that mattered more: You need to get this out to other tutors.

My late father was a tutor too. He taught me that this work is a commitment: you can't walk away mid-year and leave students and parents stranded when exams are coming up.

TuitoMate exists to help tutors stay committed, teach better, and stress less about workload, so students benefit, parents feel their money is well spent, and teachers don't burn out doing paperwork at midnight.

I'm not building this to chase millions. If TuitoMate helps 100 tutors teach with more honesty and effectiveness, that's a life well spent. If it grows further, it's for my family and for a legacy my father would have understood: serve people properly, don't cut corners.

We're a small team — my wife and I. No investors. No corporate polish for its own sake. Just a product shaped by a real tutor, with real challenges.
